Pediatric General Anesthesia in Springville, UT

Complete Dental Care While Your Child Sleeps Safely

When a child needs extensive dental work and lighter sedation is not appropriate, general anesthesia allows our team to complete every procedure in a single visit while your child sleeps comfortably and feels nothing.

General anesthesia is performed in a hospital or outpatient surgical center, not in our dental office. A nurse anesthetist is dedicated entirely to monitoring your child's safety while our dental team focuses on treatment. We reserve this option for very young children who cannot cooperate, patients with extensive treatment needs, children with special healthcare requirements, and cases where other sedation methods have not been effective.

  • Deepest level of sedation, your child is completely asleep during treatment
  • Nurse anesthetist monitors your child throughout the procedure
  • All dental work completed in a single hospital or surgical center visit
  • Reserved for complex needs where lighter sedation is not appropriate

What to Expect With General Anesthesia

1

Pre-Operative Consultation

Before scheduling, our team conducts a comprehensive evaluation of your child's dental needs and medical history. We explain the entire process, review fasting requirements and pre-operative instructions, and answer every question you have.

2

Day-of Arrival and Preparation

On the day of the procedure, your child is checked in and prepared by the anesthesia team. They review your child's health status, start monitoring equipment, and ensure everything is in place for a safe procedure. You stay with your child until they are asleep.

3

Treatment Under Anesthesia

While the anesthesia provider manages your child's sedation and monitors vital signs, our pediatric dentist completes all planned dental treatment. Because your child is fully asleep, we can work efficiently and complete everything in one visit.

4

Recovery and Discharge

After treatment, your child is moved to a recovery area where the anesthesia team monitors them as they gradually wake up. We will not discharge your child until they are stable and recovering well. Detailed post-operative instructions are provided before you leave.

Why General Anesthesia May Be the Right Choice

All Treatment in One Visit

General anesthesia allows us to address all of your child's dental needs in a single appointment, eliminating the stress and disruption of multiple sedation visits over weeks or months.

Dedicated Safety Team

A qualified anesthesia provider focuses entirely on your child's safety and comfort. This allows the dental team to focus completely on delivering the best possible care.

Positive Long-Term Outcomes

By completing necessary treatment in a single comfortable visit, general anesthesia helps prevent dental problems from worsening and avoids repeated stressful experiences that can create lasting fear of dental care.
